“Keira Knightley is very good as Anna, suggesting a new subtlety and maturity in her acting. She is the artless wife and mother, married to a pinched and prim government official, Alexei Karenin. In this role, too, Jude Law gives a thoroughly intelligent performance.” The Guardian

“Her [Keira Knightley’s] Anna is a headstrong, inescapably actressy creation, full of fussy vitality and verve.” The Telegraph

We are delighted to bring you ANNA KARENINA just two months after its release, bringing to Rockbourne Village Hall the splendour of Imperial Russia. For this film, ingeniously set in a theatre, Director Joe Wright once again teams up with Britain’s most glittering star Keira Knightley. After her very different roles in Wright’s ‘Atonement’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Keira, the doomed wife of an unbending aristocrat (Jude Law), has an affair with an attractive rich young nobleman (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Knightley exudes her own very special erotic charge throughout the film, brilliantly adapted by our greatest living playwright Tom Stoppard. Joe Wright has once again assembled his award winning design and costume team for this sumptuous film. With great music by Dario Marinelli and supporting roles played by some of the cream of British acting – Matthew Macfadyen, Emily Watson, Ruth Wilson, and Michele Dockery (Downton Abbey) – this film brings great entertainment. If you don’t know how it ends, make sure you bring some tissues.

Next film on 20th February 2013 – SHERLOCK HOLMES: A Game of Shadows
